Haircut 100 – Favourite Shirts (Boy Meets Girl)

A blast from the past! There are separate charts here – the full chart and then a transcription of the trumpet solo (which reaches a High F#).

Herb Alpert – The Lonely Bull

This was the last of several transcriptions I did of music from Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass. And I think the last of Herb’s songs that I am familiar with.

This one is written for two trumpets, harmonizing in the famous Tijuana Brass “Ameriachi” style.

Earth, Wind & Fire – September

Man, those EW&F guys can really play!

I already had charts for 1st and 2nd trumpet. This is a very demanding song so I transcribed additional parts for 3rd and 4th trumpet to share the load a little more evenly.

Jay & The Americans – Come a Little Bit Closer

I didn’t know this 1960s band before being asked to play this (and a couple of others from their playlist). To save on some of the grunt-work this one started as a MIDI file. It was a bit of a mess but I extracted the trumpet lines, made it human-readable and adapted it for use. I left the MIDI “sax solo” as written because it was kind of useful as the basis for my solo.

Jain – Come

Jain is a French singer/songwriter. This is a nice song and was apparently successful in France and Poland in 2015.

I’ve attempted to “fake” a loud French horn tone here, by playing flugelhorn and Harmon-muted trumpet in unison. I’m sure it won’t fool anybody, but sometimes you’ve gotta work with what you’ve got…

Be sure to also check out the extended version of this song 🙂
